Justin Bieber Behaves Himself at Mediation Session for Battery Lawsuit

Perhaps with the sounds of scathing barbs about hermaphroditism and being a "piece of s--t" still dancing in his head, Justin Bieber dusted himself off and got himself to mediation today.

Bieber, his legal team and relevant parties from the opposing side met Tuesday in Miami to discuss a lawsuit filed in June 2013 against the singer and one of his bodyguards by a photographer who claims Bieber sicced his security on him when he tried to snap a photo.

A source tells E! News that everyone (i.e. Bieber) was on good behavior, today's mediation session coming just over a year after the "Boyfriend" artist gave his infamous "don't ask me about her" deposition in the same case.

So far, so good then when it comes to Bieber's vow to not be so, um, Biebery moving forward, now that he's 21 and has been duly roasted by a jury of his peers. We're told that the mediation, which took place at a law firm with former judge David Gersten doing the mediating, lasted more than four hours but, "as of today, nothing was resolved."

The case is still set to go to trial in May and Bieber may be called as a witness, the source says.

Plaintiff Jeffrey Binion's lawsuit alleges that on June 5, 2013, he was attempting to photograph Bieber outside Miami's Hit Factory recording studio when the then- teenager motioned for his bodyguards to deal with him. Binion claims that Hugo Hesny, whom he also sued, and three other bodyguards shoved him against a wall and grabbed his throat, forcing him to give up the memory card in his camera.

Bieber was spotted boarding a plane, new puppy Esther in tow, after the mediation (where he may have snapped a tired-looking selfie).

Meanwhile, Comedy Central announced that the Bieber roast was its third-most watched, behind only Jeff Foxworthy's skewering in 2005 and the king of 'em all, the roast of Charlie Sheen in 2011. Roughly 4.4 million people tuned in to see Martha Stewart, Kevin Hart, Shaquille O'Neal and more go after Bieber during the initial 10 p.m. premiere.

Afrobasket: NBA stars to boost D’Tigers

Coach Sani Ahmed of Nigeria men's basketball team, D'Tigers, has revealed plans to strengthen the team with Nigerian-born players in the NBA ahead of the 2015 Afrobasket championship holding from August 19 to 30 in Tunisia and the All- Africa Games coming up later in the year.

D'Tigers qualified for the tournaments after beating Burkina Faso in a two-game qualifier. They also won the inaugural four-nation invitational Challenge Series in South Africa last week.

Ahmed said the current players in the team had been impressive in their last six competitive matches, but insisted the team must be strengthened as there would be tougher oppositions in the coming tournaments.

"We have listed the players we will be calling upon from the NBA and other leagues as we get closer to the tournaments," Ahmed said on Tuesday.

"We invited some of them sometime last year and earlier this year, but some of them were engaged in club playoffs, so they couldn't attend. Hopefully, they'll be available when we begin preparation for the tournaments."

Ahmed added that a number of friendly games had been lined up for the team.

"We've received requests from some national teams to engage D'Tigers in friendlies. The Nigeria Basketball Federation will decide which games we can afford to honour," he said.

Meanwhile, Golden State Warriors centre, Festus Ezeli, has indicated his availability for Nigeria when the tournaments dunk off.

"It is a big honour to be playing for your country and I am looking forward to it," the 2.11m centre said on FIBA.com .

"I have a lot of pride in my origins. I think that it is awesome that we have so many guys of Nigerian descent in the NBA.

"I am trying to get [Golden State Warriors shooting guard] Andre Iguodala to come to Nigeria with me someday. It is a great place, a great country and it has a lot of potential.

"I don't know [Dallas Mavericks] Al-Farouq Aminu personally but I know that he plays for the Nigeria national team. I'm looking forward to get to know him and all my other Nigerian brothers who play basketball. Hopefully, I will play for the national team soon." .

Di Maria tops shirt sales

Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria has topped a player shirt sales list released by sports retail company Sports Direct.

The Argentina star, 27, arrived at Old Trafford from Real Madrid for £59.7m in August and easily beat two other summer imports – Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez and Chelsea striker Diego Costa – into second and third respectively.

A spokesperson for Sports Direct said, "These statistics do suggest just how important sponsorship and image rights are for a club when financing a marquee signing. Based on shirt sales alone clubs would struggle to recoup the money they splash on the world's best talent.

"There's no doubt that these figures will have an impact on the European heavyweights of football as it appears that spending what could be dubbed as a ridiculous amount of money on a player could turn out to be a tactical decision."

Some of the big names that failed to make the top 10 were Harry Kane, Cesc Fabregas, Oscar, Joe Hart and Raheem Sterling – while Newcastle striker Ayoze Perez clinched 11th place.

Oyo APC celebrates Buhari’s victory, PDP slams REC

The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State on Tuesday thanked voters in the state and all over Nigeria for their contributions to the victory of its candidate in Saturday's presidential election, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd).

A statement by the APC's Director of Publicity and Strategy in the state, Olawale Sadare, hailed the voters as soldiers of change and described Buhari's victory as a worthy change for the survival of the nation.

Buhari recorded 528,620 votes in Oyo while President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party had 303,376 votes.

But the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Teslim Folarin, credited Buhari's victory in the state to manipulations by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Rufus Akeju.

However, a noticeable crack appeared in the PDP rank when a former National Democratic Coalition officer and member of the PDP in the state, Ayoka Lawani, announced that she was leaving the party for APC, citing personal reasons for her decision.

In its statement, APC said, "Whatever victory the APC recorded at the polls was made possible by God and the patriotic electorate, who defied all odds to cast their ballots for all the candidates presented by our great party. Voters in Oyo State have demonstrated their resolve to assist the cause of change, which the APC is championing."

The party also called on voters in the state to vote for the re-election of Governor Abiola Ajimobi and other APC candidates for the state House of Assembly on April 11.

"The need for continuity of good governance in the state should be established on April 11, 2015 when Governor Ajimobi is re-elected for another term of four years as this would seal the assurance of complete restoration, reformation and repositioning of the pacesetter state," the statement stated.

While reacting to the performance of his party in the state, Folarin called for calm among the PDP supporters, describing Saturday's election as the worst in terms of fairness in the history of the state.

He said, "This is a false reflection of the true opinion of the people. You can see  is no celebration in town because they know it is a stolen mandate. I will blame the irregularities on the Independent National Electoral Commission and its REC in the state, Akeju. Going by the negative records of Akeju in Osun State, where he previously held brief, he is not in any way expected to do otherwise.

"Several reports were lodged against Akeju by all the political parties in the state about his unfairness, but INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, paid deaf ears to change this unfair umpire."

Kris Jenner and Kanye West Caught Sleeping Together on a Train?! See for Yourself!

Kanye West and Kris Jenner clearly couldn't keep their eyes open a moment longer during a recent train ride from Paris to London, and a sneaky fan caught the whole thing!

The two were seen catching some much needed shuteye while riding in first class, with Jenner folding her arms and having a snooze and the rapper resting one hand on the tray in front of him.

West and Jenner's cat nap appeared to be perfectly timed, however, as they seemed to have snacked on croissants shortly before dozing off.

It's no secret that Kim Kardashian's hubby and mama are extremely close.

During an interview last year with GQ magazine, Yeezy opened up about how Jenner holds a special place in his heart--especially since he lost his mother Donda West back in 2007.

"Having someone that I can call Mom again. That s--t is super cool," he told the magazine when asked what the best part of marrying into the Kardashian family.

He also couldn't help but gush about his leading lady, admitting, "Kim is this girl who f--king turns me on. I love her. This is who I want to be next to and be around. And then people would try to say, 'Well, you know, if you're a musician, you should be with a musician, and if you want to design, you need to be with a girl from the design world.

' I don't give a f--k about people's opinions."

Obasanjo congratulates Buhari, asks him to fight corruption

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated the Presidential candidate of the All progressives congress Maj. Gen.

Muhammadu Buhari (retd,,) on his victory in the presidential poll, charging him to fight corruption and carry out reforms in different sectors.

The congratulatory message was made available to our correspondent at Abeokuta on Tuesday following Buhari victory in the March 28 presidential election.

Obasanjo, who noted that so much harm had already been done to many national institutions, including the military, however, advised him to be magnanimous in victory.

He said, "With so much harm already done to many national institutions including the military, which proudly nurtured you and me, you will have a lot to do on institution reform – education, healthcare, economy, security, infrastructure, power, youth employment, agri-business, oil and gas, external affairs, cohesiveness of our nation and ridding our land of corruption.

"Your varied and wide experience will undoubtedly stand you in good stead."

The former president said the country "is blessed with men and women of goodwill, character and virtue across the board that you can mobilise to join hands with you in the reform, repairs and re-direction that will be imperative to put Nigeria back on the fast lane of good governance, unity, cohesiveness, development and progress."

Obasanjo noted that Buhari's victory, after three previous unsuccessful attempts, must be a great lesson to himself and for all politicians, particularly in Nigeria.

He said, "For me, the totality of 2015 elections hold many lessons for our democracy and democratisation process, which are both maturing.

"On this occasion, the system has been unnecessarily overheated before and particularly during the campaigns when emphasis was more on trivialities and hate, divisive, undignifying and disrespectful statements and comments rather than on pressing issues requiring attention.

"I know that in victory, you will be magnanimous to start binding the wounds and bitterness occasioned by the campaign and the evil disciples."

Buhari thanks Nigerians, calls for sober reflection

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2015 election, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for voting him and his party to steer the ship of state for the next four years.

Buhari said this in an interim message of thanks and gratitude to Nigerians in Abuja on Tuesday.

This was contained in a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Malam Garba Shehu.

In the message, Buhari thanked Nigerians "for choosing him and his party over and above the PDP and their candidate, the incumbent President, Dr Jonathan Goodluck."

The APC statement said it "Declared victory after Dr. Jonathan called General Buhari at 5.15pm to make a concession and congratulate the winner.

Shehu quoted Buhari as saying the mood of the country as well as its current state, did not warrant the type of wild celebrations reportedly going on in some cities across the country.

"Buhari said anybody happy with the victory of the APC in the presidential election will not be involved in the molestation of opponents or the destruction of their property.

"He or she is not with me, whoever does that," Buhari curtly said.
He is expected to make a major acceptance speech as soon as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission declares the final results in which Buhari is expected to be declared winner.

Taylor Swift Makes Two of Her Biggest Fans' Wildest Dreams Come True--See How!

As if anyone needed any more proof that Taylor Swift will ride or die for her fans, well, here's yet another example.

One of Grammy winner's most diehard fans, Colleen Sullivan, was on a mission at the iHeartRadio Music Awards Sunday night: to meet her idol once and for all.

So Sullivan did what any normal Swift-sessed person does, she launched a massive Tumblr campaign in a bid to catch the songstress' attention. And it worked!

The morning of the awards show, Sullivan got the news that everyone dreams of yet only a few get to experience...that T.Swift had followed her on the social media platform.

But that was only the tip of the iceberg! Sullivan attending the awards show in Los Angeles with her close pal Tiffany Huang and the two were whisked away shortly after the night's festivities began.

And just like that, magic happened, and the ladies got to not only meet but hang out with the "Shake It Off" singer.

The pop star chatted with them at her dinner table, posed for photos with the ladies and spent ample time giving them a night they won't soon forget.

Of course this isn't exactly the first time that Swift has shown her legions of fans some serious lovin'.

In fact, just last month she offered one friend some breakup advice and even created a special playlist for them to listen to!
And that's nothing compared to her 1989 surprise listening sessions with fans, where she baked cookies and even wrapped gifts for unsuspecting devotees.

Ugh, T.Swift, you rule.

Wiz Khalifa & Amber Rose Reportedly Agree To Co- Parent Sebastian

Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose have agreed to co-parent their two-year-old son, Sebastian, according to TMZ.

The site says that the Pittsburgh rapper asked Rose to listen to his new song
"See You Again," which appears on the Furious 7 soundtrack.
"How could we not talk about family when family's all that we got?" Wiz Khalifa sings on the cut. "Everything I went through you was standing there by my side / And now you gonna be with me for the last ride."

After hearing the song, Rose reportedly called Wiz and agreed to work with him regarding raising their son.

Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa split up September 22. Rose initially offered Kahlifa visitation rights to their son Sebastian, prompting Wiz to seek joint custody.

Last month, Wiz Khalifa was reportedly seeking additional custody of Sebastian.

Also in February, Amber Rose said that Wiz Khalifa's womanizing caused her emotional distress.

"Since I filed for divorce my husband has been out with 50 different women,"
she said at the time. "Pulling sweaty white bitches out the club. All these other girls, I ain't even gonna talk shit, all these other girls, do whatever. Not only was I in the house crying everyday, mourning my husband, you know, I had to see that on top of it."

PDP official disrupts INEC result announcement, says Jega is partial and has been compromised

The PDP party agent at the Collation center in Abuja, Elder Godswill Orubebe is currently staging a protest at the INEC result collation center alleging that Prof Jega has been compromised. According to him, Professor Jega has been selective, partial and is tribalistic. He said APC had written a letter to INEC concerning an alleged rigging in Rivers state which he immediately sent a committee to investigate the issue but that when PDP wrote protest letters on the elections in Katsina, Kaduna and Jigawa, Jega did not send anyone to attend to their protest.

Orubebe, who is a former Minister of Niger Delta, is now calling for Jega to stop result collation. He sat on stage and refused to allow the result announcement to continue...

Presidential Election: Buhari leads, PDP kicks

ABUJA — Erstwhile Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) was last night sustaining his lead over President Goodluck Jonathan in the declared results of the presidential elections released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, last night.

President Jonathan has, however, protested results declared from Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Katsina and Kogi States, alleging
malpractices.

Jonathan's protest articulated by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was, however, followed by another statement late last night in which it claimed it was not perturbed by the results from the North-West, stronghold of Buhari.

Buhari's All Progressives Congress, APC, has also protested the results submitted from Rivers State on the basis that there was no election in the state.

As at the time the commission suspended announcement of results late last night, Buhari had scored 10,101,497 votes from 21 states and the FCT, to President Jonathan, who has so far polled 6,798,254 votes, to second place.

The results were declared by the returning officers from the states.

Of the 21 states declared, Buhari won the polls in 13 states of Ogun, Kogi, Osun, Ondo, Oyo, Kwara, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Gombe, Sokoto, Jigawa and Kaduna.

Jonathan won the polls in eight states namely Ekiti, Enugu, Nasarawa, Anambra, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Imo and Plateau. Jonathan also won the polls in the FCT.

Buhari had so far marshalled more than 25 per cent in 16 states while the president grabbed 25 per cent in 15 of the states so far declared.

The results from Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Lagos, Niger, Rivers, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara were outstanding at press time and would likely be declared today.

The results earlier submitted from Rivers State, however, turned into a matter of investigation after the APC sent a strongly worded petition rejecting the results. The results returned had given Jonathan 1,487,075 votes, representing 95 per cent of the votes.

Under-aged voters Addressing journalists, yesterday, in Abuja, Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, gave the seven states the party has petitioned INEC for the cancellation of the polls to include Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Katsina and Kogi States.

Secondus alleged that in the seven states, under-aged children were allowed to vote in contravention of the Electoral Act and he also alleged that voting took place late in the night in the affected states, adding: "In Kano and some of these states in the North, majority of voters were under-aged. Voting also took place in the night, and you know that in the night rigging can take place. We have completed our reports from the Kano State chapter."

We'll resist rigging —Fani-Kayode
Also yesterday, PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, PDPPCO, reiterated its claim that its candidate, President Jonathan, was winning the presidential election.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Director, Media and Publicity of
PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode threatened that any attempt to
manipulate figures or rig out the PDP from any quarter would be firmly resisted.

Fani- Kayode said: "We wish to take this opportunity to make it clear to the Nigerian public that according to the figures made available to us, we are ahead in the presidential elections by at least two to three million votes.

"We have our own Situation Room and we have collated all our figures from the various polling booths, wards, local government areas and states in the federation.

"Despite the propaganda of the opposition, we are confident of victory.

They and all other stakeholders can be rest assured that we will accept nothing less than the announcement of an election result that is truthful and that reflects the true will of the Nigerian people.

"Any attempt to manipulate figures or to rig us out from any quarter will be firmly resisted."

INEC probes Rivers result Announcing the constitution of a high-powered investigation team to investigate the allegation that voting did not take place in Rivers State, the commission in a statement issued by Mr. Kayode Idowu, Chief Press Secretary to INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, said the fact-finding mission would ascertain the veracity of the claims and allegations and advise it and the Chief Electoral Commissioner/Returning Officer for the Presidential election appropriately.

Idowu said the committee of National Electoral Commissioners to handle the investigation included Mrs. Thelma Iremirem, Head and Supervisory National Commissioner for Rivers State, Col. M.K Hammanga and Professor Lai Olurode as members.

He said: "They have departed for Rivers State and it is expected that they will submit their report before the end of the collation of results of the other states and the FCT. Following the consideration of the report, the commission will make its decision known."

The PDP also suffered significant losses in the Senate elections.

The APC swept the three seats in Kogi, Oyo, Lagos, Kwara, Kebbi and Sokoto. The PDP, however, won in Abia, Imo and Ebonyi.

Fear The Walking Dead Teaser Trailer Is Here! It's Flu Season...

The Walking Dead's spinoff, Fear The Walking Dead, is making Los Angeles creeeeepyyyy (extra E's and Y's really tell you how creepy it's going to be). The new show, which stars House of Cards' Kim Dickens and Gang Related veteran Cliff Curtis, is set in Los Angeles at the start of the zombie apocalypse that is currently gripping the mothership series. You'll look at the flu a lot differently now, huh?

AMC has already ordered a second season to premiere in 2016, the first season is six episodes. The trailer below premiered during the season finale of The Walking Dead.

Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam also star in the series from Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Greg Nicotero and Gale Anne Hurd are executive producers on the show. Erickson is service as showrunner.

"We feel empowered by this two-season commitment, a serious show of faith from our network partner AMC," Kirkman said in a statement when the show was announced. "I personally take it as a sign that they believe, like we do, that we've accomplished our goal of developing something original that can pay tribute to the original show and expand the world I created while at the same time having something new to say with this story.  I'm very grateful that we now have the opportunity to tell this amazing story and show the fans that we really haven't scratched the surface yet when it comes to The Walking Dead."

Dickens, who plays Kate Baldwin in season three of Netflix's House of Cards, recently told E! News she was told not to watch The Walking Dead.

"When I was getting close to getting the role I inquired what I should watch of it and they said don't watch it because A. It's going to be different than that and B.

Your character wouldn't know what the apocalypse looks like anyway, you know? It was interesting to think of it that way. 'Oh yeah, I don't need to watch it.' We're going to be doing something different, it's going to be filmed differently," she said. "My character wouldn't know that, she wouldn't have that information so it was a fascinating way to start it, sort of clueless just like the characters really are."

The Walking Dead will return in October, Fear The Walking Dead is scheduled to premiere this summer.

They came, they saw, they won!

The 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards started with a bang (we're of course talking about that ultra-hot Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Hudson duet) and ended with one, too ("Peaches N Cream," anyone?). Other best moments from the night included Taylor Swift's low-key dance party with Innovator Award winner Justin Timberlake (which was right up there with her fronting guitar for Madonna) and Nick Jonas' steamy "Chains" performance (in which he wore, well, chains).

"More than anything in the world I hope all the fans who are watching know that I adore you," Taylor said while accepting Artist of the Year. Polls: Anxiety heightens over delayed results

ENUGU — A palpable trepidation is rife in Enugu State over the delay in announcement of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC,on the presidential and National Assembly elections.

Vanguard's visit to Enugu-North Local Government Area, where Enugu-East senatorial district result will be announced, showed that INEC officials were still collating results.

The result will show who won among former governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani; candidate of Peoples Democratic Change, PDC; incumbent, Senator Gil Nnaji of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Nwabueze Okafor of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and Dr. Ben Nwoye, Enugu State chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC.

An inquiry to ascertain when the electoral umpire will be ready with the result indicated that it might spill over to today as the body appeared overwhelmed with the challenges emanating from the elections.

For Enugu-West senatorial zone where Deputy Senate President,Ike Ekweremadu, was the sole candidate, results was, however, still not ready at the time of filing this report, even as an aide to the DSP noted that they were being tossed around by INEC.

On Enugu-North senatorial zone where result of the winner between Chuka Utazi of the PDP, Joseph Okolagu of APC and Willy Ezugwu of APGA, was being collated, expectant newsmen gathered around the Nsukka Local Government Area secretariat, waiting for the result to no avail.

However,a visit to INEC's office situated at Independence Layout, revealed that the results for the presidential election were still being collated.

Election held in Rivers, INEC insists

say Amaechi erred to ask for result sheet before election commenced.

By Jimitota Onoyume.

PORT HARCOURT— Resident Electoral Commissioner, Rivers State, Dame Gesilia Khan, last night, said elections held in the 23 local government areas of the state.

In a statement, she said the agent of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Mr Steve Worgu, signed for all documents, including result sheets for Ikwerre council, the governor's local government area.

"The presidential, senatorial and House of Representatives elections held in the 23 Local government areas in the Rivers State on March 28, 2015," she said, adding that at the time Governor Rotimi Amaechi demanded for the result sheets in his ward at Ubima, voting had not started.

She said, "At the stage Governor Amaechi complained of not sighting the election result sheet, voting has not commenced, that was merely accreditation stage which has nothing to do with result sheets. Please note that the governor of Rivers State went to the poll as a voter and not as a governor.

"INEC wishes to inform the general public that the law does not permit everyone to be shown the result sheet, hence all political parties were expected to have their party agents at the distribution centres to ensure that the martial both sensitive and non sensitive are all complete before election officials proceed to the field. Also the agent at the polling units are expected to ensure that materials are complete before election commences. Where there is a shortfall the party agent will have it in their report and submit complaint to INEC.

"It is on record that APC accredited political party agent who was present at the INEC office Ikwerre council office, Steve Worgu, signed that the materials both sensitive and non sensitive distributed at the council were complete, including result sheets before the officials proceeded to the field."

Sambo delivers polling unit, defeats APC

Vice President Namadi Sambo, after several defeats at his polling unit by opposition party, trounced the All Progressives Congress at his new polling unit in the Saturday's presidential and National Assembly elections.

In the 2011 general elections, Sambo was roundly defeated in his polling unit, ward and local government.

However, in the Saturday's polls, the Returning Officer, Olorufemi Raphael, while announcing the result at the Kabala Doki Ward 5, Police College polling unit 11, said PDP polled 105 votes, APC 20 votes, NCP 01, and while APA 01.

The Vice President had earlier, on the eve of the Saturday's election, relocated his polling unit from Link/Camp Road to swimming pool road by the Kaduna Police College fence.

The result of the wards and the Kaduna North LGA were still being awaiting as of the time of filing this result.

This will determine the overall victory of the PDP in the area.

Thugs hijack ballot boxes in Lagos

Some armed thugs have reportedly hijacked ballot boxes on Ayilara Street in the Mushin area of Lagos.

INEC officials told presmen that the thugs, after snatching the ballot box, emptied them in the gutter.

The PUNCH learnt that the House of Reps and Senatorial ballot materials were affected, hence residents could not vote.

An official said, ,"They came in a car. They also carried bottles and cutlasses. As soon as they hijacked the boxes, they poured them(papers) into the gutters and ran away in their car.

"We tried to salvage those papers, but we could not conduct the elections. because we did not know if they took some of the papers away.

"But we were able to conduct the presidential election since it was only the house of reps and senatorial ballot boxes that were hijacked."

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Kayode Aderanti while commending the officials for their courage, promised to beef up security in the area.

I voted for myself - President Jonathan

When asked by pressmen who he voted for after he cast his vote at his polling unit in Otuoke, Bayelsa state today, President Jonathan smiled and answered "I voted for myself and for the PDP".

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended voting during the Presidential and National Elections to Sunday in problem areas.

It directed all Resident Electoral Commissioners in the country to conduct election on Sunday in areas where there were hitches.

It said it has also relocated all the contents on its website to another site following hacking by some elements.

It however said it could not still exactly say what went wrong in Otuoke, Bayelsa State which led to the delay in the accreditation of President Goodluck Jonathan and First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan.

The Chairman of INEC Committee on Information and Voters Education, Mr. Chris Iyimoga, who addressed the press at the Media Centre of the National Collation Centre in Abuja, said with some hitches in some parts of the country, there was no way the Presidential and National Assembly Elections could be concluded today (Saturday) .

He said: "Each REC has been informed to conduct election on Sunday where there are hitches with accreditation or voting. I cannot say exactly the number of states affected but the problems are not in all the states." Other National Commissioners at the briefing were Ishmael Igbani; Muhammadu Wali; Engr. Nuru Yakubu; and Gladys Nwafor.

On his part, National Commissioner Igbani said: "No one can really say what went wrong in Otuoke but the machine or the card readers could not capture the fingerprints of the President and the First Lady. Where such a situation, we had to use manual system."

On the hacking of INEC website, Commissioner Nuru Yakubu said: "We have lifted the contents on our website and relocated to other site."

INEC announces that voting will continue tomorrow, adopts manual accreditation in some areas

INEC has adopted manual accreditation in polling units where card readers did not work or worked very late.

They also announced that arrangements will be made for voters who couldn't vote today to vote tomorrow Sunday March 29th.

Explosion: NYSC urges corps members to remain calm

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged corps members participating in the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Enugu State to remain calm as their safety had been guaranteed.

The Director of Corps Mobilisation, Mr Anthony Ani, made the call in Enugu on Saturday in an interview with the newsmen while reacting to the car bomb blast in the state capital.

Ani said that security agents had beefed up security in and around the state to forestall further incidents. "I am urging corps members in the state to be calm and careful as security agents have assured us of your safety.

"Do not be discouraged. We are monitoring the situation and everything is on course. I am impressed with the performance of corps members in the election.''

Ani, who is in Enugu to monitor the elections, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct in the state in spite of the bomb blast. The director, however, decried poor performance of the card readers and urged INEC to improve on it.

Obasanjo, Adeyeye, Alao-Akala happy over accreditation exercise

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed satisfaction over the accreditation process in Abeokuta, the Ogun capital.

Obasanjo expressed his view at his Ward 11, Unit 22, Olusomi Compound Polling Centre at Oke – Sokori in Abeokuta where he was accredited for the election.

The former president, who arrived the centre at about 10. 10 a.m. was accredited between 10.16 a.m. and 10. 17 a.m. Obasanjo told newsmen after his accreditation that he was impressed with the process and the orderly conduct of the people. "What I have seen here is satisfactory and I have also received similar views expressed by people I have talked to.

"I do hope that the same peaceful situation that obtains here will prevail in other parts of the country.

"We must allay the fears of those people who thought there will be violence or disturbance regarding this election. "So I appeal to all Nigerians to maintain the peaceful process that we have had so far," he said.

Obasanjo urged those who could not obtain their PVCs to be calm, adding that such situation did not confer on them any right to be violent. He advised them to be patient, expressing the hope that this would be redressed before the April 11 elections. Obasanjo, who commended INEC, observed that it was not possible to have a perfect situation.

Similarly, the Minister of State for Works, Mr Dayo Adeyeye, has expressed delight over the turnout for the election. The minister, who spoke at his Ise-Ekiti country home, expressed delight over the turnout, attributing the development to massive mobilisation efforts. The minister also commended the people of the state over the peaceful manner in which they had conducted themselves.

In Ogbomoso, a former governor of Oyo State, Otunba
Alao-Akala, has also expressed satisfaction with the turn
out for the poll. He spoke at his Unit 13, Sabo/Taara
Polling Unit after being accredited. But Hon. Mulikat
Akande-Adeokola, the Majority Leader in the House of
Representatives, lamented the slow pace of the
accreditation process.

Akande-Adeola, who attributed this to the card reader,
expressed the fear that it may disenfranchise some
potential voters. She, however, expressed happiness
over the peaceful manner the exercise was being
conducted.

Two killed as Boko Haram attacks polling stations in Gombe

At least two people were killed in a suspected Boko Haram attack on polling stations in northeast Nigeria on Saturday, residents and an election official told AFP.

The attacks happened in the villages of Birin Bolawa and Birin Fulani in the Nafada district of Gombe state, which has been repeatedly targeted by the Islamists.

An election official, who requested anonymity, said: "We could hear the gunmen shouting, 'Didn't we warn you about staying away from (the) election?'"

Reactions as INEC postpones Federal House of Reps Elections in Jigawa State

Reactions have started trailing the postponement of elections for Federal House of Representatives by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Jigawa state following shortage of sensitive electoral materials for four (4) of the 11 federal constituencies in the state.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state Haliru Tambawel who announced the postponement friday night in Dutse said "the short-fall of Sensitive materials including ballot papers and results sheets for seven of the 11 Federal Constituencies would mean elections would be conducted for only four (4) federal constituencies."

This was greeted with dissatisfaction as the leaders of political parties present suspected it was another plan to stall the process.

These representatives of the various Political parties present at the INEC state Headquarters therefore resolved that, "for elections to be called off in seven of the Constituencies, it is better non is held in the entire state to elect members for the Federal House of Representatives."

Tambuwal said the materials coming from the Central Bank of Nigeria where they were kept did not include those from Dutse/Kiyawa, Ringim/ Taura, HadeJia/Kafin Hausa/Auyo, and Jahun Miga federal Constituencies.

Others listed for the initial shift due to the same reason included Gumel/ Maigatari/Sule Tankarkar/ Gagarawa, Kaugama/Malam-madori and Gwaram Federal constituencies.

The four (4) Constituencies where materials were all ready for the election according to Tambawal includes Babura/Garki, Birnin Kudu /Buji, Birniwa/ Guri/Kirikasamma and Kazaure/Roni/Gwiwa/'yankwashi federal constituencies in the state.

Meanwhile in Dutse, the state capital the chairman of the Local government Abdullazeez Dankofa said the news of the postponement is received by the electorate but with expressed concern over the inability of the electoral body to prepare adequately for the election despite the six (6) weeks shift from the initial date.

In the same vain, a party chieftain in the state Farouk Aliyu expressed deep disappointment at "the electoral commission's inability to carry out her responsibilities. The electoral act is clear on it that where there are problems Elections should not be conducted, but where there are no problems, they should go ahead.

" So why postpone the elections in the four (4) constituencies that the materials are available, it is unconstitutional I dare say. We really don't understand why the elections are postponed in the four constituencies", Aliyu said.

Hon Sabo Nakudu representing Birnin Kudu /Buji federal constituency said it is looked at as another ploy to frustrate the will of the people. "Since they did not succeed in getting another postponement, they are devising various ways to frustrate our voters but we would follow what they have said as law abiding citizens", he said.

Hon. Nakudu who won his elections as a federal legislator on the platform of the People's Pemocratic Party (PDP) is contesting for Senate on the Platform of the opposition All Progressive Alliance (APC) for the Jigawa Central Senatorial district, said they remain optimistic.

However the REC explained that, the Presidential and senatorial elections will hold in all 27 local government areas in the state as scheduled "because the commission has received both sensitive and non sensitive material for the election".

Russia anger after Montenegro Euro 2016 qualifier abandoned

The European Championship qualifier had been suspended inside the first 30
seconds after Igor Akinfeev was struck by a flare, but another incident late on
saw the game called off..

The Russia Football Union (RFS) has expressed its anger after the country's Euro 2016 qualifier against Montenegro was abandoned after fans threw objects at the visiting players.

The match had been suspended inside the first minute when visiting goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev was stretchered off after being hit on the neck by a flare, which came from behind the goal.

Play resumed 20 minutes later but further chaos ensued later in the game.

Roman Shirokov saw a controversial penalty saved and after the ball went out for a throw in, fans began to launch missiles onto the pitch.

Players of both sides clashed as the atmosphere intensified, leading to Germany referee Deniz Aytekin suspending the match for a second time and later abandoning it with over 20 minutes still to play.

Russia boss Fabio Capello revealed after the game that his side were left with little choice but to play on after the first interruption.

"Officials told us to continue after first break, so we had to!" he revealed. "The decision to abandon the game after second break was correct."

A spokesman for the RFS said: "We don't understand why the match was continued in the first place because Akinfeev is one of our most important players and his inury could have had a direct effect on the outcome of game."

Floored | Akinfeev had to be replaced after the incident in the opening seconds Meanwhile, home coach Branko Brnovic appeared embarrassed by the actions of his side's fans.

"I would like to apologise to the Russian players and coaching staff because of everything that has happened. It is normal that the match was abandoned, because the incident was the second one in the game," he told RTGC.

Prior to the match, violent clashes between fans had taken place in Podgorica, and following the abandonment of the game there were further incidents.

It is the second game in the Euro 2016 qualifiers to be abandoned, after Albania's match against Serbia was called off when players and fans fought after a drone carrying an Albania flag flew over the pitch.

After a Uefa investigation into that encounter, Serbia were awarded the three points, though were subsequently docked these due to a pitch invasion from their supporters.

Russia and Montenegro both currently have five points in Group G and are scrapping for third place behind Austria and Sweden, who have earned 13 and nine marks respectively. As a result, the governing body's decision over the outcome of this fixture could play a critical role in the pool.

The birth of a new born baby would normally elicit joy and excitement in people. It is more so when the mother has been longing for it without results for years. But, the reverse was the case in a maternity centre (name withheld) situated at Ifosan area of Ilesa, in Osun State where a woman recently gave birth to a baby with two horns on its head.

A tip had given Saturday Tribune photos of the strange baby, the arrival of which caused fear and trepidation among the nurses and the
proprietress of the maternity centre. The tip also described the hospital and the geography of its area of operation.

The description was vivid and accurate enough for Saturday Tribune to locate the health centre without much difficulty. Here is the maternity centre where the baby with two horns was born. Then, there was a thick wall of silence. Nurses on duty would neither deny nor confirm the development. The reporter was tossed up and down and finally landed before the proprietress of the centre. She would not talk unless her identity and that of her hospital were protected. The reporter gave his words.

"It is true the baby was born," she said, but added that the horror of the event compelled her to instruct her staff to keep sealed lips over the development, with a view to warding off public attention to the centre over the scary baby.

Speaking with Saturday Tribune during the visit on Thursday, the
proprietress, (she is called matron by her staff) said the woman who gave birth to this deformed baby was "about 25 years old and she has been without a child for three years."

She explained that "this woman lives in one of the farm settlements on the outskirt of Ilesa. She registered for antenatal service here. So, when she wanted to put to bed, her relatives rushed her here to deliver the baby.

"But we were shocked to the marrow when she eventually delivered the baby with two horns on the head after going into labour for some hours.

By the time she was delivered of the baby, it was already dead and we had to separate it from the placenta.

"I have never seen such a terrible creature in my life. So, we helped to pack the dead baby and the placenta and handed them over to them before they left our premises. It was indeed a fearful development and we were saddened about it.

"This is not something we can celebrate. So, I ordered by nurses and other attendants to keep their mouth shut over the incident. But, I am very surprised how you people got to know about it and came here to inquire about it. I do not want anyone to make something unnecessary out of this or create problems for us here," she stated.

She would not disclose the whereabouts of the woman who delivered the baby. "I cannot give you any details about her. Like I told you, she lives in one of the farm settlements on the outskirts of Ilesa and I don't really know the area and I want you to leave me out of this matter," she added.

The woman who froze when she was shown the photographs of the baby, however, confirmed its genuineness but asked how Saturday Tribune got them. A staff member of the clinic also showed Saturday Tribune her own photos of the baby taken with her phone.

All efforts to locate the exact location of the baby's mother and her identity were not successful.

Last minute rush, cash withdrawal in Jos, PH, Ilorin

Queues of bank customers at ATM service points on
Aba Road, Port Harcourt… on Friday.

Nigerians across the country besieged commercial banks on Friday to make last minute cash withdrawals ahead of today's presidential and parliamentary elections.

In Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, residents flooded Automated Teller Machine points across the city to make withdrawals.

As a result of the cash rush, many ATMs in some banks visited by one of our correspondents in places like Harbour Road, Aba Road and Artillery areas of the city ran out of cash, leaving scores of customers deeply frustrated.

Even some customers who attempted to transfer money to their loved ones were left disappointed as their transactions failed even as their accounts were debited.

Some affected customers were lucky to have their money returned to their accounts before leaving the ATM points while others were assured by security officers in some of the places that their accounts would be credited in not more than 24 hours.

Long queues were also noticed at ATMs and banking halls in Makurdi, Benue State.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that the rush was a precautionary measure by residents who feared that there might be post- election violence which could affect economic activities in the country.

Heavy human and vehicular traffic was also noticed on most of the roads in the city, especially routes leading to major markets.

Heightened buying of food items and other basic needs was witnessed as residents made final rush to stock their homes.

Saturday PUNCH also observed that the Jos-Makurdi-Otukpo-Enugu highway was very busy as commuters and motorists who reportedly left states like Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi, Plateau and Katsina over fear of post-election violence in the North headed down south.

In Jos, Plateau State capital, traffic was unusually heavy as residents also made last minute purchases in readiness for today's presidential and parliamentary elections.

There was heavy traffic build up around the city centre, especially at Ahmadu Bello Way, Rwang Pam Street and adjoining streets.

The same situation was noticed at the popular Farin Gada and Gada Biu markets.

The price of goods was markedly high as traders exploited the situation.

A basket of tomatoes that normally goes for N450 was sold for between N1,000 and N1,500. The same goes for other food items.

A trader, who identified herself as Rose told our correspondent that buyers started trooping into the market where she trades as early as 8am. In Ekiti State, the situation was similar. One of our correspondents who went to commercial banks along Adebayo, New Iyin and Ola Governor's Road in Ado-Ekiti observed long queues at the banks' ATMs.

The majority of those who were in the banking halls showed impatience in their bid to end transactions and leave.

Some of the ATMs did not dispense cash and the situation prompted the customers to try other banks.

A customer, Mrs. Felicia Adeleye, who spoke with Saturday PUNCH in one of the banks located on Bank Road, Ado-Ekiti, said she was unable to withdraw money despite arriving the bank hours earlier.

Adeleye said, "I first joined a queue to use the ATM but got frustrated when the three machines did not work. I later went into the bank but I was told there was a network problem. I intend to get some money to spend on my family upkeep during the elections."

Why Keshi Made U-Turn On Eagles’ Contract

A clearer picture on why Coach Stephen Keshi swallowed his pride to accept the new deal offered to him by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is beginning to emerge.

Keshi initially took charge of the Super Eagles in November 2011, after former handler, Samson Siasia, was sent packing for failing to qualify Nigeria for the 2012 African Nations Cup hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Keshi's contract ran out after Brazil 2014 World Cup, and his failure to qualify the Super Eagles for the recently concluded AFCON in Equatorial Guinea prompted a debate on whether or not to give him a new contract.

The 'Big Boss' has now been offered a two-year deal by the NFF.

He had earlier declared that the deal amounts to a "slave contract," a statement that did not go down well with the NFF.

"From the clauses I have seen so far, I don't know what words to use, but the contract can be described as a 'slave contract'", Keshi said, in reference to clauses which make him answerable to several persons and committees.

But an official of the NFF told The Guardian yesterday that both the NFF Technical Committee and Keshi sat down in a round table to iron out some of the 'clauses' in the contract. "One of the key issues Keshi and his lawyers hammered on, was the clauses, which makes him answerable to some persons in the NFF. He insisted that instead of the clause to read 'work under' it should read 'work with', which we have accepted.

"Every other aspect of the contract, including his monthly take home, what he will get as match allowance and winning bonuses have been taken care of," the official said. Keshi won the Nations Cup as a player with Nigeria in 1994.

However, the decision by the NFF to hand Keshi the new deal is not going down well with many Nigerians who feel that the coach does not deserve it after failing to qualify the Super Eagles for the last Nations.

Call errant security agencies to order, Buhari tells Jonathan

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (ret) has call on Prsident Goodluck Jonathan to call errant security agencies to order.

Buhari made this known in a press statement on Friday.
The statement read thus The Abuja Peace Accords Must Be Worth Their Wordings On Thursday, March 26th, President Goodluck Jonathan and I signed a new accord reinforcing our commitment to violent-free elections.

The new accord is a follow up to the Abuja Accord which we signed, along with nine other party leaders, on Jan. 14th 2015, to show our commitment to free, fair and credible elections in our dear country.

I take these accords very seriously, and this has reflected in the issues-based campaign which I ran all through the period of electioneering campaign, despite the provocative and sleazy campaign directed at my person and my party.

But recent developments across the country, ahead of Saturday's elections, run against the contents and spirit of the peace accords.

For example, the ink with which we signed the new peace accord had barely dried when we started hearing reports of violence directed against members of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as glaring acts of harassment and intimidation being carried out against the opposition by security agents across the country.

Shots were fired at the convoy of the Director General of my Campaign Organization, His Excellency Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, in Rumuolumeni, Obio Akpor area of Port Harcourt, a few hours after the second peace accord was signed, leaving two persons injured.

I do hope this is not a confirmation of the information reaching my party that some notorious security agents have been deployed to Port Harcourt to restrict the movement of Gov. Amaechi.

In Ondo State, a serving APC member of the House of Representatives, Hon.

Eniolorunda Omosule, was arrested and detained by the police for no reason other than to keep him away until after elections, while we have heard reports of an alleged meeting in Ibadan between the Commissioners of Police in the South-west and PDP officials.

In Imo, we have read of how more than 30 armed mobile policemen were unleashed on some APC youths at Mbutu in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, with the policemen firing indiscriminately, smashing doors and windows and arresting some of the youths, while there are alleged plans to deploy troops clothed in DSS uniforms to the South-west to help the PDP to rig the elections.

These are worrisome developments, more so because they involve security agencies, which are supposed to be neutral and professional in carrying out their constitutional duties of protecting the lives and property of Nigerians, irrespective of their party affiliations.

I remain committed to the two peace accords which we signed to ensure free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections on Saturday and on April 11th, and once again I urge all my supporters to shun all acts of violence, even in the face of the worst kind of provocations.

However, the wordings of the accords must mean something if indeed they are the paper they are writing on. The new peace accord we signed on Thursday called on INEC and all security agencies "to ensure strict adherence to their constitutional roles". This is the minimum requirement for us to have credible elections. When those who are being paid to protect Nigerians turn around to unleash violence on them, it portends great danger for the polity.

With less than 24 hours to the Presidential elections, I call on President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately call the errant security agencies to order, in the spirit of the peace accords. The President should make it clear that any security agent who engages in acts that are inimical to the success of the elections will face the full wrath of the law.

Enyeama to miss South Africa tie, Akpeyi called as replacement

The Lille goalkeeper has been ruled out of the friendly tie with Bafana Bafana after he sustained a back injury during Thursday's training session Nigeria captain Vincent Enyeama is out of the international friendly match with South Africa billed for Nelspruit on Sunday after he copped an injury during Thursday evening's training session had at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium,
Uyo.

Enyeama got his record equaling 100th cap on Wednesday in the Super Eagles 1-0 home defeat to the Cranes of Uganda but the captain won't be available to break the record he jointly holds with former skipper Joseph Yobo against the Bafana Bafana on Sunday.

Toyin Ibitoye, media officer of the national team said the former Enyimba goalkeeper had been replaced by Daniel Akpeyi and won't be on the plane to South Africa.

"Enyeama will not be travelling with the team because he sustained a back injury and has been excused from the journey while Daniel Akpeyi of Warri Wolves will serve as his replacement. We don't want him to aggravate his back complaints and it was among the reasons why he won't be going to South Africa," Ibitoye said.

Ibitoye noted that the Eagles would miss the invaluable experience of Enyeama but assured that Nigeria won't be disgraced in Nelspruit on Sunday.
